App calculates board feet and cost - tdlinton - 09-30-2017

A new version of the iPhone app KerfMaker has been released that calculates board-feet (or cubic meters) and material cost. KerfMaker lets you enter a parts list and then, when you go to the lumber company, automatically determines whether you’ve picked out enough lumber and creates a cut plan. With the new feature you can now see how much lumber you’ve selected and how much it will cost.

The KerfMaker app is available on the iPhone App Store for $2.99. You can learn about it at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kerfmaker/id1106264371?mt=8 (appstore.com/kerfmaker), or look at the web site http://kerfmaker.com. KerfMaker is also on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTLedGUkiFE.

The new version is free for those who previously purchased KerfMaker.

KerfMaker has these features:
  • Automatically tracks your part list
  • Tells you when you’ve picked enough lumber for your parts
  • Calculates an optimal board cutting plan
  • Computes board-feet and material cost
  • Lets you share projects through textual import/export
  • Has a smart algorithm for part fitting that respects board and part orientation
  • Comprehends both Imperial and metric units
  • Accounts for multiple material types and lumber thicknesses
  • Has an editable materials library for cost and density

Please check it out!

Seems like a lot of work to enter a parts list into an app. If you’re going to that trouble it’s easy to figure out how many boards and what size to buy.

And there are plenty of free bdft apps.

Guys this is the swap n sell section. He’s not asking your opinion on his app. If you don’t like it don’t buy it. If someone is selling a hand plane would you tell them it’s too expensive and you could buy something much cheaper.
