Can I paint over epoxy? - AlanS - 10-02-2017 I have a front exterior door that was built in 1925- Pine. There are many cracks in the wood, not completely through, mostly surface. I want to paint the door, but I must fill the cracks first. I planned on using West Epoxy (as I have it in the house), knowing that it can withstand the weather and has some flexibility. HOWEVER...will it accept paint? I will be sanding it smooth, so it will have a 'bite' from the sanding. OR...any other suggestions? You can buy kits at places like Menards. I'd plan on a good primer over everything before your top coat. My experience is it stays put much better than Bondo, but both are very paintable, and a lot less than epoxy, which to paint I would suggest roughing up it's slick surface.
