small radius templates - Bope - 11-28-2017

What do you use to draw curves with a radius in the 0.5" to 2" range? I am needing to layout several 1" radius curves. I don't have a wing cutter to make little disks on the drill press.

Fender washers.

Washers, loose change, bottle caps, rolls of tape, just about anything that is round, handy and the right size.

A set of hole saws usually goes from .75" to 2.125".

I have a handy plastic circle template that has a range of circles at about 1/8" diameter increments. They are available at hobby/craft stores or anywhere they sell drafting supplies or you can order from Amazon.

Such templates are also available with different shapes such as ellipses, rectangles, triangles, etc.

These flexible curves are also handy:

A set of french curves are also handy:

Thanks for the help. I will take a look at the hobby store. Fender washers is also a great idea but I keep using them for other purposes. Maybe I need to buy an assortment and keep a set in the super secret hiding place only to be used for templates or just getting lost.

compass.  I have one for small circles and a beam compass for circles up to 12" radius or so.  Anything bigger I just drill two holes in a piece of scrap.

The bay has used radius gage sets for not much.  I have a set of Lufkins that I've had for many years.  Don't use them a lot but they can be handy.

Rockler sells corner radius templates? The reviews are good.
