We all have flaws. lol RE: Using ugly wood - fredhargis - 01-22-2018 Most folks considered those defects, I consider them character. Love that box! RE: Using ugly wood - GlenS - 01-22-2018 Just a few years ago a lot of that stuff was pitched in the fire. Now everybody seems to want it & there aren't enough knots in a tree to go around! RE: Using ugly wood - BrokenOlMarine - 01-22-2018 I like the spaulted and knotted stuff and let it talk to me. You have seen some of my stuff here before I think. Very nice work. I use a trick I learned on a you tube video to fill in the holes sometimes... Old Coffee grounds. Yup, you can use them natural or dye them. Then add a layer, some CT glue. A layer, some CT glue. Build it up and then sand flush. Works like a charm. RE: Using ugly wood - crokett™ - 01-22-2018 (01-22-2018, 10:40 AM)BrokenOlMarine Wrote: Old Coffee grounds. If it's a big void, coffee grounds into epoxy works faster. RE: Using ugly wood - ron kanter - 01-22-2018 It's wood not plastic laminate. Seeing the changes, defects, bug holes, whatever, is only a reminder that it is real wood. Some character is more visually appealing than other character, but I definitely like to keep it real. Nice job with the boxes. RE: Using ugly wood - BrokenOlMarine - 01-22-2018 (01-22-2018, 03:54 PM)ron kanter Wrote: It's wood not plastic laminate. I agree... I only fill in the really big ones that go thru the entire thickness of the wood, to make a piece usable. I used it when I made my gunsmith box. RE: Using ugly wood - 2beast - 01-22-2018 Nice work Mac I like finding uses for character pieces |
