What methods do you guys use to mount them to the drill press table? Preferably, something that is easy to remove and set up.

In my case, , I remove the usual flat, slotted table from
the support arm and replace it with an adapter I got from Grizzly. The adapter fits into
the support arm of the drill press and the cross slide vise is mounted on top of it.

Works great. I can swap them out in a minute.

I like the looks of this one from Northern Tool and Equipment.  At 23 pounds it should stay put.  And it offers two axis fine adjustment.

Looks nice but the reviews aren't very stellar.

At 23 lbs for $79 they had to have taken some shortcuts.  I never thought about weight in one of these but heft does sound like a good design parameter in any tool not to be carried in an apron.

I would not over-think a vise.  Find one that meets your needs.  Even the shabbiest will probably work fine.

I'm looking for something that adjusts easily in both directions, but I'm seeing prices all over the map, from $50 to over $500.  I'm guessing you get what you pay for, but it's not like I'm using this thing every day.  I just need something that's functional and more stable than my makeshift clamp-ups.

What do you folks recommend?

This guy loves his.

I have a cheap one from Harbor Freight that had a lot of slop as received, but was easily adjusted to be much better than more expensive ones that were not so adjusted. I'm not saying you should buy a cheap vise. I am saying you should check the adjustment of whatever you get.

I have a Palmgren and a Jacob both are good the Jacob isn't in the same league as the Palmgren but works just the same and can be found on Ebay for about $100 or a bit more
