Classic Irish Furniture - Paul K. Murphy - 02-21-2018

A while back, I started a thread about Irish furniture. Some had never heard of it. Here is an example of Irish furniture from the Metropolitan Museum. Incidentally, I am not sure if it was described as Irish, but I took one glance and I was sure. Mahogany.

Furniture of this type is often referred to as “Irish Chippendale.” The name isn’t right, but it’s often used.

Cinch it didn't belong to a native!   The landowner class were pretty much English.

Being of Irish descent myself, I always thought classic Irish furniture was more along the lines of a bar stool.
