Laminate glue failure?? - goaliedad - 03-10-2018 A while ago I did a small laminate glue up. I used solvent based glue and it has had a failure- a bubble that is too large to iron down. We have been able to work some loose, but I need to release more so I can re- glue it. In a different thread some one said lacquer thinner will release the contact cement Any thoughts? FWIW I think it was too cold when I did the original glue up RE: Laminate glue failure?? - woodhead - 03-10-2018 Heat the edge to open and then use the Lacquer thinner. You may not have success and be forced to relaminate. Al RE: Laminate glue failure?? - JTTHECLOCKMAN - 03-10-2018 Did you try the hot needle trick to allow the air to escape from under it. Just a needle hole is usually enough to let the air out. RE: Laminate glue failure?? - goaliedad - 03-11-2018 I think I got lucky- I was able to release the laminate with just a high power heat gun, and then used a j-roller to work it down. So far it looks like it is fixed. I will feel better in a day or two. |
