Tru oil vs French polish - Peter Tremblay - 05-02-2018 Hello all, I'm working on making some hand planesĀ (that's my project this summer) and I know that the traditional finish is a french polish. I'd rather find a finish that give a similar look but with greater protection and easier to apply. I was thinking about Tru oil. This will be going onto very oily exotic wood. Any thoughts? RE: Tru oil vs French polish - Wildwood - 05-02-2018 If were finishing exotic oily wood not sure Tru-Oil would be my first choice after looking at section 3 of MSDS! https://www.birchwoodcasey.com/getattachment/Resources/Safety-Data-Sheets/23123,-23035,-23132-Tru-Oil-Saftey-Data-Sheet.pdf.aspx Would look for articles on finishing Exotic oily woods; especially species will be working with for tips, tricks, & techniques.. http://www.wood-database.com/wood-articles/finishing-exotic-tropical-hardwoods/ RE: Tru oil vs French polish - Peter Tremblay - 05-02-2018 (05-02-2018, 02:28 PM)Wildwood Wrote: If were finishing exotic oily wood not sure Tru-Oil would be my first choice after looking at section 3 of MSDS!
