Tru oil vs French polish - Peter Tremblay - 05-02-2018

Hello all,

I'm working on making some hand planesĀ (that's my project this summer) and I know that the traditional finish is a french polish.

I'd rather find a finish that give a similar look but with greater protection and easier to apply.

I was thinking about Tru oil.

This will be going onto very oily exotic wood.

Any thoughts?

If were finishing exotic oily wood not sure Tru-Oil would be my first choice after looking at section 3 of MSDS!

Would look for articles on finishing Exotic oily woods; especially species will be working with for tips, tricks, & techniques..
