What do I have? How do I kill it? - bennybmn - 05-26-2018

And how do I keep it away? This weed showed up a year or two ago. It’s all over my front lawn... it’s one of those things, kind of like some clovers, where the stalk curves at ground level and several are connected in a small network. It has a tiny blue/purple flower if I let it get too long.

Doing this from my phone sorry I couldn’t attach a pic, says it’s too large.

Doesn't look like Creeping Charlie to me (and be thankful for that because that is a tough one!)

Looks like corn speedwell

Why does North Dakota get to miss out?!?

I'm not super convinced it's the Charlie, but could be. I'll have to pull up that link as I stand in front of the weed n feed at home depot one day and make sure I get the right stuff...

Anyone have a favorite lawn treatment they recommend?

It's not what we call creeping charlie here. Creeping charlie here has scalloped leaves that are anywhere from .5" to 1" across. Nearly impossible to kill.

These leaves are tiny...

I believe that's what we call Ground Ivy here.  Among other things.

this is what we call Creeping Charlie.  True story.  When we moved into our house the builder had reworked one side of the road to get the house up and so I had all this bare eroding clay.  I went to a friends and dug up about 3' square of this stuff.  I brought it back to my house and just laid it on top of the clay.  I might have watered it once or twice but I know I basically ignored it.  then we mulched  that area and ran 3" of mulch over top of it.  That was 2 years ago.  It now covers an area about 4x the size and I'm going to have to start spraying along the road.   the only good news is where its growing it's keeping other less desirable stuff out and it doesn't climb anything, it just grows along the ground.

That's definitely not what I have, but it's an interesting erosion control!
