Wanted: Somebody with CNC ability - ®smpr_fi_mac® - 05-27-2018

I'd like somebody to make me two templates out of 1/2" Baltic birch. One is an end panel; the other is a leg/foot template. They're for a cradle design I'll likely make a lot in the future. I have a dimensioned drawing in PDF.

If you're close to MD/DC/NOVA I'll buy the ply and come visit. If you're further away I'll gladly send you money to buy the ply and shipping. I'll pay for labor, any bits needed, etc.

Any takers?

You can ask BloomingtonMike to do it for you.

Are they straight thru cuts in the plywood? You might be able to find somebody to waterjet them for you. I know I know ....water + plywood sounds like a bad idea but I've seen it done and the plywood should dry just fine with some weight on top until it dries out.

I'll take any method that will provide a quality template.

Granted, I have no idea what your design is, but I'm not sure I really see this as a job for a cnc.  You are going to copy the template, so you can bandsaw and sand to a line and it will have the same effect.  This is how it's usually done, I would say.

our shop is in Hollywood, we do this type of stuff all of the time. Dean Lumber, Inc. The shop is on the back road behind the store.

Eric,

I've done that but always have imperfections in my template. This way the template will be cut perfectly. I'm willing to trade some cash to save some time.

Museum, you're about a half hour from me. Mikie has reached out to me but I don't know where he's located. Let me know what you need to do it. I don't have a CAD file; just plans in PDF. All of it is straight lines with some radiused corners.

It sounds like you're going into the cradle business.

If what I've seen around here is any indication, it is going to be a booming industry.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

No, I don't think I'm going *that* far, but I'm making another next month for my BIL, and we're hoping to have need of one in the next year. I'm starting to occasionally sell things I make, but nothing as pricey as a cradle just yet. I want the templates *just in case* though.

I made three pendulum cradles over the years, heirloom quality, all for family.
Big Grin.  Templates would have made the job SO much easier... but it was still a joy.  The first was ash and walnut... the second was Brazilian cherry, mahogany, and birdseye maple.  The third was half sized for an American Girl doll for my granddaughter, in knotty pine, but as nice as the full sized cradles.
