Thanks guys, given me some ideas to work on.

The Bat boxes are probably about the level we are looking at, but we have a lack of bats. Same sort of construction could make a bird nest or feeding station though. Different wildlife locally, but there are thing like that we could make.

I did find this page which would fit in great with their environment approach, and the school has plenty of trees in the grounds so there will be weta there already.

Some simple wooden boxes / crates / carry baskets would work too and be used around the classrooms.

When I was a kid, I made wooden swords. I wish I had had a spokeshave back then to really shape the blade and handle. The parents might not like it, though.

A step stool would be a cool project, too. Something useful that will last a few years.

One year for the scouts, I did prep for them to glue up cutting boards. Easy to do with instant results. I wa asked again 3 years later and went with small clipboards instead. The hardware came in bags of 12 and was cheap. My scraps went a lot further and allowed many more projects, since it all was only 1/2” thick when prepared before the meeting.
