A quick bee hive top - just a box really - paulmon - 08-29-2018 We split a hive recently but found out we didn’t have a top. An emergency piece of sheet rock worked but winter rains are coming! This is essentially just another way to make a box so I thought I’d share it here. https://youtu.be/NIk_aVxNEM4 RE: A quick bee hive top - just a box really - Stwood_ - 08-29-2018 ![]() RE: A quick bee hive top - just a box really - Duane N - 08-29-2018 Nice job on the box lid and I'm sorry...I laughed as you said "What could go wrong" and knew what was coming. Famous last words. ![]() RE: A quick bee hive top - just a box really - paulmon - 08-29-2018 The good news is that I've been stung enough that it doesn't really hurt that much. But it's still an unpleasant shock when it happens. When I was a teenager, when I worked my dad's apiary, I wore short or 3/4 sleeves. I would wear the face net and put rubber bands around my sleeves to keep the bees from crawling up. Even after smoking them, you could count on a few stings. Like you say, it is annoying, but not much more. Since the wood work was already done, it was a quick job to get it all wrapped up. https://youtu.be/2-T5R65c_q4 |
