Houston Experts Home Addition: $/sqft? - jgourlay - 09-13-2018
Wife and I live in a house, Houston, off Kirkwood south of bayou, north of Briar Forest. We have one of these "cheapest house in an expensive 'hood" deals going on. 3 bedrooms currently.
We are thinking hard about adding an addition. Let me say right up front: we have no illusions about "recouping" the value later. We like the area, have no mortgage, want more space but don't want to move. We'll die in this house and don't care about "resale". Not that we want to do something stupid...but this is not an "investment" project.
Two scenarios: 1. We add a 'bedroom', sitting room, bath to the first floor. 2. We add the bedroom, sitting room, bath AND on top of that addition is second story addition that would be a big playroom. In our area, do any of you have an estimate of a sensible range of "$/sqft" for the two options?
