I doubt Titebond or Borden's would have matched it. Regardless, the wood-joinery quality prior to the glue-up is still the king. I doubt Titebond or Borden's would have matched it.......................... It's good stuff, no doubt about it..I don't normally trust the "quick-set" adhesives, but after using JB, I am hooked on it.,..The only thing about it that I don't care for is the color after it "sets"...It looks "gray", but I usually add a pinch of Lamp Black when mixing it and it turns it jet black like polished ebony....{.great for inlays also..} Make your lamp black by letting a candle flame "play" on a metal spoon and scraping the soot off..That is "lamp black"...pure carbon...it just takes a miniscule amount. I have a black powder rifle I made in the seventies with home made mother-of-pearl and silver inlays, glued in with dyed black epoxy..never a failure.,. RE: Best general purpose glue.... - Bibliophile 13 - 12-28-2018 I use JB Weld to repair my kids' toys when they break--and they break a lot! Most recently, I used it to repair a broken stoneware baking dish. I was a little skeptical about whether it would hold under oven heat, but so far so good! I'm regularly baking things in that dish at 425* and 450*. |
