Cypress and African Mahogany wind chime - Duane N - 12-26-2018 I found a use for off cuts and scrap pieces of wood....I've made a few of these already, sold 2 and 1 was given to my parents as a Christmas gift. My Mom cried as usual...bless her heart. If anyone is interested in building one an engineer was kind enough to make a website on how to build them, patterns and even went so far as to make charts of different notes with each metal used as a chime. I happened to have some 3/4" type "M" copper laying around and my next one is going to be made out of 1 1/8" type "L". Nice work on your wind chimes. Looks like a fun project for wood scraps and metal tubes. I like wind chimes..Have a couple store bought hanging now...But I have six or eight short pieces about 20" long of what appears to be bronze tubing about 1 1/4" diameter with a 1/16" wall..has a nice "ring" to it..It may become a chime someday.... RE: Cypress and African Mahogany wind chime - hbmcc - 12-27-2018 That link is impressive! I like the sound of big ones, but only if they are far away from the house; really far. The sound is an alien intrusion. Also, all we had were torn apart in storms. Our large evergreens in this area would be a nice fit with aeolian organs, or flutes. |
