Interesting design.  Wonder if anyone has tried one?  Ever tried it with the fret blade adapters?

$325 for a coping saw + $50 for the fret blade adapter. For half that one can buy Knew Concepts, which is already an expensive piece of kit.

Dave makes great tools -- I own several of his chisels, and cherish them -- and while they are pricey, they are by no means overpriced. The rotation under tension mechanism looks fantastic. But 3 bills for a coping saw doesn't come easily for most of us.

Well, if I spent $300+ for a coping saw, it would not change my financial life; but frankly, my trusty $15 Olson coping saw has done everything I've ever asked it to do.  IMO its the choice of blade that makes the difference.

That being said, for highly specialised work this saw may be worth the coin, and I say god bless.  But this is coming from someone who won't spend $300 on a Festool drill either....

What’s a good blade?

Anyone with hands on experience?

I tried the Blue Spruce coping saw at Handworks in 2017. I am not the usual market for new tools, as I prefer mine to be old, but I thought this one was amazing. As he shows well in the video, you can freely cut in any direction, letting the spine of the saw turn out of the way. You could easily saw a spiral, if you wanted to. If that is what you want to do, this saw is for you, as there is nothing else that can do the same thing. It is as easy as it looks in the video.

I think it was Jameel Abraham, no slouch when it comes to quality tools, who came over while I was there. His comment on the construction I remember as "that's incredible!"

As I said, I don't buy many new tools, but this one is tempting. It is very high priced though.

Edit:

When I tried it, I don't think the fret blade adapters existed yet.
