Which spur drive? - Foggy - 03-12-2019
Nova NCSC spur drive center or Taytools 468372 multitool drive with spring center? I will be using it with a Nova G3 chuck. Opinions please.

I have a 2 spur, 4 spur and a center with no spur and by far the one I use all the time now is a multi spur and I got two sizes 1" and 5/8".

They grip the wood very nicely and will not split the wood nor tear up the ends of the wood either.

Neither. Best in my inventory is a two-spur type which fits WITHOUT driving into a single saw kerf, normally done on the bandsaw.
Why would you want to leave the chuck on the lathe when spindle turning, unless you were doing some sort of production work?

Bought one of these more than 20 years ago and still use it for turning between centers. Have never replaced the center point! Use it for starting bowls, hollow forms and of course spindles. After marking centers just pound it in one end with a mallet. Has never lost it’s bite or split the wood.
