PSA old 16" Jointer in Maine - CharlesinSEA - 08-09-2019

I have no relationship with the seller, but if it's in as good condition as it looks, it should be missing a zero on the price. I'm pretty sure i could get it shipped to the PNW and still resell for a profit.

Not for everyone, I know, but I upgraded to a 12" Crescent last year and will never be able to go back.

Not interested, but did any of those old jointers have guards?

They usually tossed then in the corner, never to be found again. That and square cutter heads are a big no in my book.

My jointer did come with a guard (and a round head). The guard has another brand on it (I forget what) but the jointer was clearly built with a nubbin to take the guard post.

Even with a square head, the cost to upgrade to a Byrd insert head would be less than the cost of any production 16in jointer.

Looks like a nice one to clean up, get in shape, update the cutterhead and use.

I'm not sure how I would be able to handle (moving, etc.) but I'd sure be trying to figure all that out if it was closer. Years ago (many years ago) my employer had one of those in the plant's mechanical shop. Somehow they discovered the square head jointers throw knives. Instead of making a new round head (we had probably 4 fully equipped machine shops across the site) the put a lock-out tag on it, and sent it to the scrap yard......get this, they replaced it with an 8" Delta!
