Yet another moxon :) - RonB1957 - 10-21-2019 Taking a cue from Derek, I decided to update my little moxon, using Tom's hardware. I was never happy with the height of the vise so I lowered it approx. 2". This seem to be much better for my preference. I then got rid of the shelf and added a hinging shelf and T track to it. Keep in mind I was using what ever scraps I had around. I am planning to make a better version, but for now this hack job will have to do. Like Derek I had an issue with the bronze bushings I substituted for the steel sleeves I originally had inserted. To tight. So I put mine back on the metal lathe and added several thousandths to the inside diameter and while I was at it decided to polish them up a bit. They could still use a little reaming. But it works. Sorry. No brass inlays. I will put polished bronze in my final version, providing I can source the bronze screws I need and muster up the time to do it. https://flic.kr/p/2hyBXDT https://flic.kr/p/2hyCVHn https://flic.kr/p/2hyCVJj Still contemplating the best way to make this thing tilt forward for half blinds. RE: Yet another moxon :) - Derek Cohen - 10-22-2019 Looks good, Ron. Regards from Perth Derek RE: Yet another moxon :) - cputnam - 10-22-2019 Very Nice! If you are going to use a blond wood, may I suggest an ebony inlay instead of brass? |
