Atkins No. 51 Rip and Crosscut -- Freshly Sharpened and Sparkling - enjuneer - 03-03-2020

Here is a really nice nearly matched pair of Atkins No. 51 hand saws. One is a 5 1/2 ppi rip saw and the other is an 8 ppi crosscut. Both are from the late 1950s after Borg Warner bought Atkins. I can attest that both are very good saws and that they were well cared for by their original owner.

Nice, and reasonably priced as well.

I picked up a very nice rip Bob had linked to his Loon Lake site a few months ago. It included a card with all the filing spec's. I found rip saws the hardest to locate. These two would be great for someone getting into hand tools.

For every ten cc saws i buy, maybe, just maybe I find one rip.  One needs a Foley retoother, really, to efficiently retooth for rip.  You can do it by hand, but files are expensive and you may use up at least 1, or two, doing it by hand, plus the investment in time.
