Identifying these moulding planes - levinll - 04-16-2020 I've read somewhere that owners of these vintage planes would put their own names on them, which appears to be the case with these two. My question (and i apologize for my ignorance because I know nothing about woodworking) is can these be identified by their maker ? Thank you in advance for your help. https://www.flickr.com/photos/44682750@N00/shares/h4282h https://www.flickr.com/photos/44682750@N00/shares/9w6AQN https://www.flickr.com/photos/44682750@N00/shares/Yc659V https://www.flickr.com/photos/44682750@N00/shares/o205vu https://www.flickr.com/photos/44682750@N00/shares/7tty77 RE: Identifying these moulding planes - jppierson - 04-17-2020 Try looking at the other end. Makers marks may be stamped in the same way. Another method is to look for markings on the blade/cutter RE: Identifying these moulding planes - AHill - 04-17-2020 Those are likely the owner's name and not the maker's name. Finding a maker's name on a moulding plane is hit and miss. Try looking at the blades to see if they have a stamp on them. |
