It turned very well for me and sanded well also.  It did not take a finish to well.  It absorbed it and would have taken a gallon of it I think.
I can say about the grabby part is I did not notice it since I turn at about 2000 rpm or better on small projects like this.  I turn faster since I have learned that at 800 and below it knocks the tools around a lot and does not get as good a cut at lower rpm.
