Yard Sale Season, 2020 - bandit571 - 05-23-2020 Has started back up..... Bought a big box of Lego parts, for the GrandBRAT...$8.....as for me? Spent a grand total of $6... ![]() [attachment=27126] This baggie was a dollar...and ![]() [attachment=27127] These two totaled $5....not too sure about that pencil... ![]() [attachment=27128] I did clean the Wm Johnson of Newark,NJ 6" compass, and give it a new pencil ![]() [attachment=27129] And, have sharpened the factory edge of the iron on that Stanley No. 110 Bottlecap block plane ( chose it, over a Millers Falls No. 75, that was also there) [attachment=27130] Sale was actually the second sale of the day..first one was just clothes, and nic-nacs ![]() So...about that baggie... ![]() [attachment=27131] And... [attachment=27132] And... ![]() [attachment=27133] Not sure why there was a letter stamp in there ( S ), and what holder for those two HUGE tips I' d... Not too bad, for the first of the season.... RE: Yard Sale Season, 2020 - farmerj111 - 05-23-2020 That's a pretty nice haul for 6 bucks! RE: Yard Sale Season, 2020 - Bill_Houghton - 05-23-2020 Nice hauls, but you don't get any points for the grandkid unless you post a picture of him/her. You're no doubt aware that, if you find a suitable length of 5/16" rod of the right quality (like drill rod, for instance), you can grind a point on it and have a pair of 6" dividers, too. I've never heard that type of block plane being called a "bottlecap" plane, but the name's sure right. And, yes, smart move over buying a No. 75 paperweight rabbet plane of pretty much any brand. RE: Yard Sale Season, 2020 - bandit571 - 05-23-2020 hmmm...he's too busy with the X-Box... but.. [attachment=27139] Large Flat Rate Shipping box...1/2 filled.... [attachment=27140] Been digging down through all these pieces, trying to find out what all is in here.. [attachment=27141] Work in Progress... RE: Yard Sale Season, 2020 - bandit571 - 05-24-2020 The Millers Falls No. 75 was a block plane that looked just like the Stanley No. 110......instead of a "bottle cap"....it had a lobed wheel. Besides, I already had one in the shop. That letter stamp.... ![]() [attachment=27146] Is for the letter "S"....not too sure about those two HUGE bits....others in the picture are 1/4" hex. Sale had quite a few metal toolboxes, some power tools, LOTS of hand tools. Still, not too bad, for the first of the season..... ![]() RE: Yard Sale Season, 2020 - bandit571 - 05-24-2020 Alrighty....Stanley No. has been cleaned up, and the iron is sharp... ![]() [attachment=27150] Took a bit of "hammer adjust"....from Moxxon TP down to see through shavings.... ![]() There is a Millers Falls clone in the shop... ![]() [attachment=27151] Stamped in the left side...Millers Falls No. 75 Was putting the Stanley through it's paces, today.. ![]() [attachment=27152] Seems some of the parts needed flattened... [attachment=27153] Resaws weren't quite flat.... Might be a decent enough block plane....for under $3? ![]() RE: Yard Sale Season, 2020 - Bill_Houghton - 05-24-2020 People think you have to have a fancy block plane with adjustable mouth and fine adjusters and all that...not always. |
