Air hose reel recommendation? - ed kerns - 08-15-2020 I'm in the market for an air hose reel for my wood shop. Presently the only tools I run on air are small nailers, or an air gun. I have a couple of compressors, but usually use a small pancake compressor in the shop. 30' of hose would get me anywhere I need to go. I'm just tired of dragging and coiling air hose. I don't really think my use warrants the $500 models, but I don't want to buy junk either. Anyone have a reel they can recommend? Thanks! RE: Air hose reel recommendation? - Bill Holt - 08-15-2020 I know your pain. When I saw the prices of quality reels, I started checking Craig's List. It took some time, but I hit gold...an almost new Reelcraft with 100', 3/8", soft hose for $80. Now there are more options than just Craig's list. Good deals are out there and once in a while a GREAT deal comes along. I did not need the 100' but it is crazy how many times I've taken advantage of it. Good luck, I hope you find a a great deal. RE: Air hose reel recommendation? - Admiral - 08-15-2020 Actually, I got this one from Harbor Freight; absolutely no complaints for use in a hobby shop, I've had it for 4 or 5 years now and it does the job; they go on sale every once in a while, I think I got mine for $59 or $69 with a coupon. I'd buy it again. https://www.harborfreight.com/air-tools-compressors/air-compressor-accessories/air-hoses-reels/38-in-x-50-ft-retractable-hose-reel-93897.html PS: I got one of those yellow coiled hoses to put on the end of it, more convenient than just using the end of the hose. RE: Air hose reel recommendation? - sweensdv2 - 08-15-2020 I had the Harbor Freight 50' one for around 15 years before the hose started to crack and tear. Instead of replacing the hose I replaced the whole thing with the 50' version of this one, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009TCCTIG/ref=twister_B01D6D0HQO?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 . I've had it for about 5 trouble free years now. I really like the fact that the hose is much lighter than the rubber one on the HF model which makes it a breeze to maneuver around the shop. I actually liked it so much that I bought a second one for the garage. RE: Air hose reel recommendation? - Willyou - 08-15-2020 If you want to keep it simple and cheap, try one of these. 30' of hose will fit on it very nicely. RE: Air hose reel recommendation? - brewmaster - 08-15-2020 I have had a HF one for probably 15 years. I think I have replaced the hose once. It works fine. I bought a Campbell Hausfeld 50 foot one a few months back. For 50 or 60 bucks, it works well and I prefer the hose to the Goodyear rubber one I have on the HF reel. Ive had awesome luck with the flexzilla reel and 30' of hose. https://www.amazon.com/Flexzilla-Retractable-Enclosed-Lightweight-ZillaGreen/dp/B009TCCTIG/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3I569YHGE771Q&dchild=1&keywords=flexzilla%2Bhose%2Breel&qid=1597538991&sprefix=flexzilla%2B%2Caps%2C233&sr=8-1&th=1 RE: Air hose reel recommendation? - jstraw - 08-15-2020 I went with the hand crank kind on an Amazon lightening deal. Works well. They put it on sale a few times a year. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CQ3Y5ZJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_nOioFbW34BCCE |
