I'm wondering if a regular dado stack would eliminate the problem. Anyone else using this thing? Any tear-out problems? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ASGV1E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1 RE: Box joint cutter set and tear out - Bill_de - 10-08-2020 (10-08-2020, 09:43 AM)USS-DDG2 Wrote: I've been using the Freud box joint cutter set and get lots of tear-out despite using a backing board. I use baltic birch plywood, no problems here.+ RE: Box joint cutter set and tear out - Alan S - 10-14-2020 I have not noticed any tearout when cutting box joints in solid wood with the Freud box joint set. I don't see the point of box joints cut in plywood. RE: Box joint cutter set and tear out - jteneyck - 10-14-2020 Use a new backer board for each project. No tear out as long as the work pieces are held tightly to the backer board. I like using box joints with Baltic birch plywood because it's an incredibly strong joint that easy to make, and it looks great to me. John |
