Laguna bandsaw tires, specifically 16" - EricU - 10-25-2020

Thinking about replacing the tires on my laguna 16" bandsaw.  The laguna website is of no help.

Any suggestions? Not even sure how to figure out which model it is.  Bought it in 1995, I think.

Without the model, it’s hard to say, but you might try calling Sulphur Grove Tool (www.sgtool.com) at 904-619-7935. They are who I use for urethane replacement tires on my bandsaws (I’ve done my 14 and 18 to date and need to do the 16). They’ve been very helpful the two times I called them.

Could be wrong , but I don't think those urethane tires are going to work on an Italian bandsaw wheel.   It's my understanding they have to be senot to a specialist to be re-tired.

Why do you think you need new tires in the first place ?

The model number is on the aluminum manuf. plate that's riveted onto the spine of the saw.    That age , it's mot likely from Meber, but it could be an ACM.  I just don't remember when Laguna transitioned to ACM for the 16's.

picture would help.

The internet says Meber will sell tires and ship them to you.

Racking my brain here........place in Kansas City that has sold bandsaw tires for decades. Tire and sanding belts.

Do they re-tread euro bandsaw wheels ?     These don’t have a “tire” that you buy, heat up , and slip over your wheel like a domestic or Asian 14”er.

I've been following this thread with interest. I have an MM16 and wondered what i would do if it ever needed tires (MM suggests the OEM tires are "lifetime"). Anyway, I did find this on Amazon and was surprised to see someone offering aftermarket DIY tires for it.

there are a lot of urethane tires for it listed on Amazon.  Not sure I trust that without someone having done it.

Yea right,   That's definitely not a MM16 / Centauro Wheel in the pic.

Now the tire on offer might be the same diameter as a MM16 wheel, but even if it is, how are you planning on securing it to the wheel ?  How are you planning on removing the old tire ?

Well, I'm not planning on anything since my tires seem to be good. But those tires come with an "installation tool" and my guess is they fit so tight no adhesion methods are needed, and as for removal, no idea. There's also very good chance the whole thing is bullchit. I was merely pointing it out as interesting that's it's offered.
