Mike Pekovich - Halfathumb - 11-07-2020 I've been Mike build his wall cabinet over the past couple of months (on FWW) and although I've been learning a few new techniques, I find it strange that I never saw him use a planner or dust collector. I'm guessing he didn't use the DC due to noise and filming. But never the planner. Anyone observed anything unique? Just Saying Jim RE: Mike Pekovich - Halfathumb - 11-07-2020 I meant to say and joiner. Never saw him use anything but TS BS. Just curious Jim RE: Mike Pekovich - Martin S. - 11-07-2020 He probably does that work off camera. I am just guessing as I have not watched. I like his skill set, but way too much kumiko for me. It is "Fine Woodworking", not "Japanese Woodworking". RE: Mike Pekovich - DaveR1 - 11-08-2020 Having done a dozen or more of the plans for Mr. Pekovich's projects, I guess I could assure you that he does use a planer and a jointer. RE: Mike Pekovich - Handplanesandmore - 11-08-2020 Find me one guy who thicknesses his stock all by hand for all his projects, and I can show 1,000 who don't (or can't). Mike is not a neanderthal crusade and he uses machines like any other woodworkers. Simon RE: Mike Pekovich - Halfathumb - 11-09-2020 I agree, I think Mike uses all of the conveniences of a modern day woodshop and his videos concentrate the important things. Norm use to show all of the machinery in use, but he was speaking largely to beginners and intermediates. Plus showcasing the tools that was donated to him. Jim RE: Mike Pekovich - rwe2156 - 11-09-2020 I'm pretty sure I say a day planner laying on his bench.................... Its probably nothing more than demonstrating the tedium of using a jointer and PLANER. And paid at least in part to produce the show. Same deal with Scott Phillips pimping tools but Norm was smoother at it. |
