RAS Cutoff Stop - Tapper - 11-24-2020

Will be getting my Dewalt GA RAS back in action this winter. Building a new table top for it and want to install a cutoff stop system for precision crosscut lengths. My searches have turned up this one by Kreg available from Rockler. Seems I remember Norm having a different brand.

Anyone know of any others suitable for this application?

Thanks,

Doug

I have a few of each style of Kreg stop--find the L-shaped one to be pretty stable, but the curved version has too much play for my taste...at least the 2 I have. My go-to has become the Incra Flip Shop Stop--but you have to use the rail made for it. The way it's made makes it really solid, and you can really get about a 5" difference in width on a crosscut with using the independent legs and the bar--handy for continuous grain boxes. Haven't tried to adapt one to my GWI RAS--still clamp a scrap of wood to the fence...but that would be a handy addition!!

This 30" fence with stop was designed for drill presses, but is just $70.00 on Amazon.  My guess is that it could be adapted.

A quick search brought this up. This is the type Norm has.

RE: RAS Cutoff Stop - Stwood_ - 11-25-2020

I have the curved kreg flipstop with the kreg rail. I bought the 2, not the kit.
No problem with the curved stop being sloppy. It is adjustable...

Thanks to all for your suggestions and links. Ironically I spoke to Incra today about their offerings. Looks like it's a piecemeal deal and not a kit, which is OK with me. I have their 1000SE miter gauge with the cutoff attachment and the Ultra Ultimate fence system for my table router and like them both. Their CS is one of the best around IMO.

Still looking at all the options so additional suggestions are welcome!

piece of 5/4 x 5/4 about 6” longer than the length of the saw from the blade to the end bell, 45° bevel about an 1/8” from the end, and a couple of spring clamps.  I clamp to the fence and the clamps don’t interfere with the travel of the motor housing.
I had one that was as about as long as the length from the blade to the edge of the table to the right of the blade.  I liked that one, it let me clamp to the fence and the table at the same time.  But , I can’t find that, going on several years.  I really should make another.

Sorry, but I'm not visualizing what you're describing.

[attachment=31253]I like simple, just so long as I can repeat a cut.

Thanks for the photos, Bill with a couple more good ideas.

Here's a system I'm considering, using the hardware mentioned in my original post. I like the flexibility of the movable fences, i.e. being able to move them out of the way when not in use and to be able to use the counter space for something else. I'm also considering using the same guy's dust control system with this unique shop-made fence for the saw. Will probably have my Dewalt miter saw inline to the right on it's own table.
