Can't figure out how to attach pictures.  I've done it before, but I've forgotten.  HELP!!

RE: posting pictures - R Clark - 12-24-2020

Here's how I do it.

I make sure I have a jpeg of the pic saved off; must be less than 1MB in size.

Below the thread text entry window is a New Attachment line.  Select the "Choose File" button.

When the file explorer window opens, select the picture you want.  Hit "Open."

Once the file name appears in the New Attachment line, select "Add attachment"  (It's to the right side of the screen)

The chosen file will now appear in the list under the New Attachment line.  Make sure your cursor is placed int he text entry pane where you want the picture to appear.  Click on "Insert into Post" on the line by the file name.

Use the "preview post" feature to make sure the post looks like you desire.

Post the entry.

Yup. Those are good directions.
That is how it works.

But boy it took me a LONG time to figure out what they meant.

Once you 'get it'  ( at least for me ) it's not too bad.
Until you do, it is very frustrating.   I KNOW.

Just keep trying with a test pic or two.  Right here in this thread.
If you can post here, you can post pics.  It's just NOT intuitive as
to HOW!!!

Edit to add:

( And yes, I admit it's a 'humble brag" )

For some woodworking content in this thread....

My grandson, 19 months old, enjoying the busy board
I presented to him on Christmas Eve.

And that, dear friends, is called a "stealth gloat."

Cool pics...the joy on the kids is priceless.

Merry Christmas!

When I click on choose file nothing happens. No window pops up on my mac. When I go to view my attachments there ore none to view. This is the clunkiest forum of which I partake. The only reason I stay is for the great fellow igits who hang out here..

I have been having the same problem on a Mac. I have tried in several different browsers and the "Choose File" button does nothing.

RE: posting pictures - R Clark - 12-27-2020

I'm using Chrome, and just went through the process using Safari; both worked just like I described.  I've used this method to post pics since the Woodnet site upgrade back, whenever that was.

I used to host pics through Photobucket, but that, well..............

If it makes any difference, I'm on Big Sur operating system; but it worked just fine on the previous operating systems.

I don't recall any settings that might be causing a problem, and I run a pop-up blocker, so that's not it....

What I do ( Windows 10 PC ) is have the pics I want in the post
on the desktop. Then I can see them as I insert them in. Don't
know why you would not be getting a window to open.

The last time I used a mac was a very long time ago, so I am probably
no help, but can you drag the pic to the posting window?

Ok it's been a long time since I've posted a pic.  Let's give it a try

Wow!  It worked as advertised on my Mac.

Thanks for the tutorial.
