Need help fixing a pepper mill - MauleSkinner - 02-04-2021

I made a salt and pepper mill set for my mom, and I need to warrantee them. The mechanism slips against the top part. You can kind of see in the photo that the plastic insert is ribbed, but it’s just not grabby enough. Any suggestions?

I think I got the kit at Woodcraft years ago, but I don’t see this one online anymore, so I can’t link to instructions.

Thanks

If you need to build that edge up, you could build it with CA glue, or CA glue mixed with some dust from the same wood. The you can chuck it up and re turn it just a tad bit smaller. It should also be a more durable surface. I have threaded holes in wood, then coated them with several coats of CA glue and let it dry well, then re-tapped the threads. It works and holds very well. CA glue can also be used as a finish and if built up right, it can be buffed very shiny.

Well, here’s what I ended up doing...I found somebody who used a brass rod, but I had some thick (3/16”j bamboo skewers around, so I used that.
