1/2" plywood for furring strips - megrilla - 02-15-2021 So between my basement stairs and my concrete wall, there isn't much room. I've been thinking of putting 2" foam, ripping 1/2" plywood strips for furring, and 1/4" drywall. Unfortunately moving stairs or making them narrower is not an option. What the thought on this? RE: 1/2" plywood for furring strips - Cooler - 02-15-2021 There are engineered solutions for that. They probably cost more than you solution, but it is a small space, so likely not too much expense. I had seen one system in a youtube video, but it appears that there are multiple options out there. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=insulated+basement+wall+panels This video shows an installation on one of the products. https://www.insofast.com/lc/basement-wall-insulation-panels.html Very fast and no special tools. If you do this, devise a clamping method if you want flat drywall. Perhaps you can use wedges between the drywall and the basement stairs, or something like that. |
