I finished mine with Antique Oil from Minwax about 5 years ago and haven.t had any problems. I have since knocker down the finish with steel wool and Tree floor wax. It is the second bench I built and used this product. The top is Hickory, which I will never use again. The wood is rather porous so I wanted to fill the pores so if anything gets spilled, and it will, on the bench it wouldn't go to deep. I lot of the other methods listed will also do this
But I felt that I didn't want to use any type of non drying finish. This is how and why I did it and I like the results. I have nothing against the other finishes listed before mine. It is my personal choice.
