Dado set. Place of mfg? - Pirate - 02-22-2021

Anyone know where the Freud and Dewalt dado sets are manufactured?

I have two Freud sets and both are made in Italy.  Mine are nearly 20 years old, so that might not be current data.

My set is very old, but I looked at the pic on Amazon and the Freud SD508 is still marked "Made in Italy".

No idea on the DeWalt, The Freud is made in Italy.
I can also tell you that the Infinity Dadonator is also made in Italy, less than 50 miles from the Freud factory, in a plant owned by the son of one of the founders of Freud.

Just wondering, because it looks like the Dewalt has almost doubled in price in 5 years, and the Freud hasn't hardly changed.

I have two dado sets.

The first set I purchased for my table saw and has a positive hook angle.

The second set I purchased for my radial arm saw and it has a negative hook angle.

The negative hook angle set cuts cleaner but slower and I tend to use it for all my work on either machine.

But it is definitely slower cutting.

The negative hook angle leaves the edges of the dado crisp and clean.

Just one more thing to keep in mind when making your purchase.

Both sets are from Freud and cost about $100.00 each back in 1999 or 2000.  So cost should not be the determining factor.
