Just another table build - bandit571 - 05-27-2021

If anyone wants to read about it....made of Ash, for the show wood, and pine for the drawer sides and back.  If'n it will show, it will be Ash.   Table is for the new Gazebo out on the back patio.  Wanted something to sit beside my chair, so I can sit my Guinness down....
[attachment=35480]
Legs are tapered along two faces...
[attachment=35481]
A bead runs down the outside corner of each leg...and along the bottom edge of all three sides/aprons...
[attachment=35482]
This goes underneath the drawer's front...it too gets a bead along the bottom edge
[attachment=35483]
Parts for the front of the drawer.

Top wound up being a 4 piece glue-up...
[attachment=35484]
That was then bread board edged....
[attachment=35485]
Aprons got a tenon...to be glued into a mortise in the legs...
[attachment=35486]
Even the drawer dividers...
[attachment=35487]
Well, that is enough for a start....be back later with another chapter....

Stay tuned

Sure is nice to see you back into the swing of things.  Not much activity here, so your post is a sight for sore eyes.

RE: Just another table build - bandit571 - 05-27-2021

Needed a way for the drawer to slide in and out...glued in a pair of Pine slats as runners..
[attachment=35500]
Then I could work on a drawer...dovetail the front corners...
[attachment=35501]
Set up one of my Stanley 45s as a plough plane..to plough a groove for the bottom panel to reside in..
Winkgrin
[attachment=35502]
Then set up the other Stanley 45 to mill a 3/4" wide dado, to house the back of the drawer...
[attachment=35503]
Seemed to work quite well...
[attachment=35504]
Then cut a 1/4" plywood bottom to fit..
[attachment=35505]
Needed a couple counter-sunk pilot holes, to fasten the back to the sides..as I don't rely on just glue back there...
[attachment=35506]
Glue on the dovetails, in the dados, and where the back meets the bottom...and a few screws..
[attachment=35507]
And set the drawer aside for a day...

Stay tuned..

Welcome back.  Glad to see you are at it again.

I agree, every gazebo needs a Guinness spot.

It's a good day when there is more content.

Bandit keeps on giving!

Maybe a PIP will do?
Confused
[attachment=35541]
A view of the side....stain is called Gunstock, by Minwax...
[attachment=35542]
A view of the back end, the one without a drawer...and..
[attachment=35543]
The end with the drawer....and yes..
[attachment=35544]
The drawer works very well.....had to shave a bit off the sides.....
[attachment=35545]
Stanley #3 did most of the work...then rubbed the sides down with a candle.
Top?
[attachment=35546]
Discovered that I had forgotten to do any edge treatment....may just  leave it like this....currently sitting on top of the tablesaw..
[attachment=35547]
Waiting on a coat of Clear Gloss Poly to dry.....then I can flip it over, and varnish the top....

Stay tuned....

That looks really nice, Steve.  Are you sure it will survive the hard life planned for it? Anything I put outdoors must live through 12 months of rain, humidity, drought, and gallons of Clorox to strip algae.

Intend for the table to remain under the top of the Gazebo.....out of the weather.    This coming fall....it will be brought inside until next Spring......Going to be a "Fair Weather"  sort of thing....may even get a small Grill Cover to keep it under wraps, during the usual Thunderstorms.....

Waiting on 2nd coat to dry....
Cool

Sitting out in the gazebo...
[attachment=35612]
A side view?
[attachment=35613]
A better view of the top...all shined up..
[attachment=35614]
The Boss seems to like it....

I think I can call this project....done

Very nice.  I see a matching set of gazebo chairs in your future.
