Strange looking square - bandit571 - 07-06-2021 While digging out all the scraps to be used for the current project...came upon this "gem" [attachment=36242] Hmmm, measures out to ~ 7-1/2"....slots are every 1/4", out to 5-1/2" Doubt IF there had ever been any wood on the handle. Nor did I find any logo to tell whom made this.. Interesting? RE: Strange looking square - Bill_Houghton - 07-06-2021 I've seen other examples of that design. Either from a "boy's tool kit" or from the equivalent of the 99-cent tool offerings. No, probably never any wood on the handle. RE: Strange looking square - toolmiser - 07-06-2021 I've also acquired a couple of these and I agree they are probably from a "boy's tool kit". RE: Strange looking square - Admiral - 07-08-2021 As a kid, my "Handy Andy" kit had one quite similar.... RE: Strange looking square - bandit571 - 07-09-2021 this one seems to be a little better made version... One could hold a marking knife in a slot.....to mark a line a set distance from an edge. Maybe then use that line to rip a board to width....like IF you wanted a board 4-1/2" wide, from a 1 x 12? Hole in the handle can be for a better grip... |
