Walnut - cme4dk - 10-06-2021 I am considering making a dining room table out of walnut. Is walnut hard enough to be used as a table? jay RE: Walnut - dav - 10-06-2021 IMO, yes and Walnut looks great. It's not as hard as Ash, Oak, Sugar Maple and some others. If you're looking for something that is totally resistant to dings, even those hard woods will ding if they are hit with a hard object and with the necessary force. RE: Walnut - humanrace - 10-06-2021 My walnut dining table was made in 1958. Still looks great. RE: Walnut - fredhargis - 10-07-2021 Worry not, walnut makes a fine dining table. (IMHO, of course) RE: Walnut - shoottmx - 10-07-2021 Ours is walut, made many years ago by LOML's uncle, looks fantastic in our dining room. g RE: Walnut - toolmiser - 10-07-2021 That is the only wood our High School shop classes used in the 70's. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to use it. RE: Walnut - jteneyck - 10-08-2021 It's harder than mahogany and they've made tables out of that for hundreds of years. Here's a list of the Janke hardness scale. John |
