Our last house we installed a 60" Thermador hood that had the fan mounted outside on the side of the house. Even with it there it was still loud due to (as others have stated) the air movement, not the fan noise. It would suck the toupee of off you if you stood under it. Our new house we are doing at pop-up vent that will have the motor mounted in the floor space its a Zephyr brand not sure of the model.
