Finishing a concrete basement floor? - David Stone - 04-11-2023

My basement is semi-finished. It has a concrete floor, which slopes to a drain in the center. (I haven’t had any water issues since I owned the.). I’d like to put something down that looks nicer. Any suggestions? How do I deal with the slope? Is it ok to cover the drain?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't cover the drain unless you have a sump pump but the sump pump isn't there to catch water in the basement. It's there to catch ground water so it doesn't come into the basement.

But... Vinyl Plank is your answer. If it's sloped too steep and the plank won't lay down without bridging the low area, you could use stick on vinyl tile. I did that in our last house. Not because Vinyl Plank wouldn't work... it just didn't exist yet.
