Powermatic 180 planer cutterhead removal - Wild Turkey - 05-01-2023 I'm rehabbing a 1965 vintage Powermatic 180 planer and can't figure how to get the cutterhead out. I've got the manual but the illustrations leave a lot to be desired. I've got the pulley and spacer off the left end of the cutterhead shaft but that's as far as I've gotten. Everything else seems to need some special trick to get it off so I'm squirting it with PB Blaster and studying the situation. Anybody know how to proceed????? RE: Powermatic 180 planer cutterhead removal - Wild Turkey - 05-13-2023 The bolt holes were the right size for a 1/2" tap so I threaded them and used bolts to push the bushing off the shaft. Didn't damage the holes; they're still perfect for the bolts to go back in. Just a trick to remember! |
