Water popping stains? - ®smpr_fi_mac® - 08-16-2023

White oak.  Sprayed water on after final grit to pop the grain.   Dried two days.  Any clue what these stains are?

Nothing else was used or applied to the lumber.

The water dissolved the tannin in the white oak.     Never heard of water popping grain, raising grain yes.   Roly

Sorry.  Raising the grain, that's what I meant.

I didn't know water alone would cause it.  I thought iron was required, too.

If you used tap water and have hard water you have your iron source.
