Dave Corinth is a good follow on YouTube. He also has some great videos about making totes. I also just found the 'Just Plane Fun' channel- I think the guys name is Mike Jenkins. He sells plane parts, etc. on his FB group Just Plane Fun the Parts Division.

AMT No. 5-1/4 Junior Jack plane...base is solid cast brass

Going to need a lot of Brass..

A magnet will not stick to the base...it is solid Brass.  11" long, 2-1/4" wide...

You should try. Casting might be the easier part. It is not complicated to build that foundry. Machining would be the more difficult part for me. Buying all those milling bits.
