Have work to do.. - bandit571 - 12-10-2024

At least as far as this plane..
[attachment=53223]
Yep, yep....
[attachment=53224]
MIGHT take a bit?

 Test drive?
[attachment=53225]
iron was sharp, but rusty...the sole?
[attachment=53226]
Cleaned up nicely enough...all those very small pits are now full of wax...

Part 2:   Seems I "Picked" a hand plane the other day ($25!)
[attachment=53227]
The Tote was loose, is all....however..
[attachment=53228]
The rest of the parts needed a wee bit of work...besides cleaning off the rust?
[attachment=53229]
Iron was bent...and someone else had tried it as a Bevel up plane?
[attachment=53230]
Vise to squeeze most of the bends out...those that refused to flatten out...we have ways..
[attachment=53231]
Once things were "straightened out"...then worked on the bevel a bit...
[attachment=53232]
And...there is a bare spot on me left forearm....

Plane is a Millers Falls No. 9 ( says so right on the side of the base casting) and is a Type 2.

How do I know?  Well..
[attachment=53233]
Not only do I have a second Type 2...there is a fancier Type 4 sitting between the two..
[attachment=53234]
A No. 9 is about the same size ( and WEIGHT!) as a Stanley No. 4

Also in the Road trips "findings"..
[attachment=53235]
Two Stanley 8" Tri-squares....and...
[attachment=53236]
A Millers Falls No. 107 Eggbeater Drill....bad part was the drill storage handle was empty..

trying to decide whether the gear needs Black paint, or Red...1915 they were red...
[attachment=53237]
Kind of hard to tell, right now....but there is a few traces of red left on the gear..
