Brace Drill ID needed.. - bandit571 - 04-09-2025 On the way home from that Cardiac Stress Test, stopped in a little place called "Junk Rescue"..looked over what he had..saw this.. [attachment=54304] Sales taxes brought the price up to $16 and change... [attachment=54305] That twist drill bit? 1/2", the shank was turned down to 1/4"...and was Made in Japan Took this all apart.. [attachment=54306] Handsome, ain't it? Selector ring goes over a prall, so you can either go forward, or, in reverse...Barber Jaws have no "teeth" and the "spring" is just a pin fixed into one of the jaws... Got things fairly cleaned up and working like new.. [attachment=54307] The only marking I found ( other than what a previous owner did with a pipe wrench on the chuck's shell) was a "510" on the arm.. Not sure whom made one of these...anyone? [attachment=54359] Two Brace Drills from Stanley....both are No. 945 models....stamped right on the arm....one is an 8" sweep, the other one is a 10" sweep...other than that, they are the same..... Size of sweep? several 6" ones...a few 8" ones...a couple 10" ones..a 12" and a 14"......plus there is also a Wimble Brace I have a single Breast drill...Goodell Pratt 477. hanging up is a canvas roll-up, with a full set of Irwin Bits....#4 through #16... yep...nothing special....YMMV, of course... [attachment=54377] Made in Germany, BTW....but, it is an 8" sweep, has the Barber Chuck, and does not have a Ratcheting end. |
