Just remember if you're going to use the fabric membrane then you have to use the unmodified thinset to adhere it and also to install the tile on it. For redguard you have to use the modified thinset.

If the toilet flange has a leaded sleeve you can play around a bit with it to give you another half an inch.

You can get one from Schluter or mud one up yourself and use the Schluter system to  waterproof it.

That thing looks like he left it out in the rain,if so the electricals could be toast. I would offer him max $150.00, if he polishes it up maybe another $50.

Most of the big names are excellent tools,but the Fein is a couple of steps above them all in ruggedness and smoothness.

I use one of these that I have installed on one of my windows. Naturally I open a bit my shop door when I turn it on.I use it only to clear the air then shut it down. Not good in subzero weather. [br]...
