Regarding bar oil, my Ryobi pole saw will leak all of the bar oil out of the reservoir if you let it set awhile.  I usually have to drain it after I use it, because it doesn't get used all that often ...

I've used Howard's Butcher Block oil.  I picked it up at Lowes.  I think it was less than $10 for a 12oz bottle.  It may be more expensive than making your own mix, but I don't keep any beeswax around...

I've never used them, but I have heard of people using stall mats in their shops.  They are much heavier than the HF interlocking mats, if that is a requirement.  They are also much more $$$.
