don't expect good/loud sound from the speakers but it will work. Don't push it or you might burn up the radio (or house) Your best bet would be to get a small DAC and hook the walkman/radio to that,...

I have one of the pull behind plug ones and use it once or twice a year. I have very sandy soil and it works fine. I too just use a few concrete blocks on the top for the weight.

just make sure to return the ends to the wall and have at least 1-1/2" between the wall and the handrail. These are required for code.
