Replace the ball bearings. Disassemble the motors, wash the housing and coils in fresh water, put in the kitchen oven at 140 deg for a day or two. Should be good to go.

It depends on the RPM of the motor. 1725 RPM will require something about 4 to 5 inches.[br]3600 RPM can use 2 or 2 1/2.
