I own a JDP12 and have for probably 3 years. speed adjustment is a breeze just pull the lever towards you and it goes faster. I have drilled pen blanks to 2 1/2 " forstner bits with no problems.

I bought one of the cheap $20 ones from Walmart knowing it wouldn't be used much but I keep finding more uses for it. Last weekend I cut the old heater core lines on my truck.

I glue the threaded ring into the wooden piece. A dozen new mason jars was like 8 bucks and replacement lids and rings were only a couple bucks. Something to do with smaller pieces of wood
