I think I have a couple Moan faucets like that.  IIRC, I yanked that stupid plastic piece out of there and connected it like you normally would.

Ethanol gas is hell on plastic fuel lines.  The root cause of every small engine issue I've encountered recently has been deteriorated fuel lines.

Good luck trying to pull 3 #6 & a #10 ground through 30-40ft of 3/4" conduit. If there are any 90 deg bends you can forget about it. Upsize the conduit & do it the right way.
