I've used Walnut sawdust/shavings from the boards mixed with glue to fill cracks/holes.  Since it is from the same board the colors match quite well. Sorry, no help on darkening the light areas.

Have a Black & Decker that has worked well for my needs.  Even took down a 15" diameter dead dogwood and cut up the pieces into manageable size for disposal.

Thanks once again for the comments.  Doesn't look like two ovens are likely.  Liked the LG we saw but still holding off on decision for another week or so.

Some do. Others use cypress or other woods, usually depends on what is available and cheap.
